All about the Monte Palace Garden Tour.

In the 19th century, the growth of therapeutic tourism in Madeira in the winter because of the mild climate led to the construction of the “Monte Palace Hotel”. The then owner built a palace inspired by the architecture of the Rhine and decorated the garden with little lakes, water jets, and winding walks. The romantic taste of its origin didn’t change. Still, the present owner embellished the garden with exotic plants, such as cycads, often called living fossils, tree ferns and native plants of the Laurisilva forest – designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Walking through the garden, we can also admire the famous collection of tiles, the Oriental and Orchid gardens, and Karp Koi. Don’t miss out on this fascinating garden while in Madeira.
