All about the 25 Fountains Walk.

If you have one day to go on a Levada hike in Madeira, this is it! You will love this walk if you are fit and not afraid of heights. From the top of PAUL DA SERRA, you will enjoy the views over the evergreen landscape of RABAÇAL VALLEY you will cross during the trek.  The wonderful old mountain path you follow along the water channel will lead you to the beautiful spot, 25 FOUNTAINS.  We will stay there for a while to enjoy the scenery of the springs sprouting from the rocks 10 meters above a large pool. If you are keen on a cold refreshing shower before we return, do so. We will continue uphill, and your reward will be magnificent at the end of the steps. One highlight of the walk is the RISCO cascading waterfall. Enjoy a peaceful moment, savouring the atmosphere with Madeira’s endemic chaffinches nearby. Refrain from feeding them, but relish their presence. The “enchanted” LAURISSILVA FOREST, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage, will surround you the whole time. BOOK NOW!

  8. Good to Know Activity level

This walk is unsuitable for people with vertigo problems; Parts of the path are narrow with a steep drop on one side, but most have a barrier running alongside. There are some steps and narrow sections to overcome, as well as a 700 m tunnel, flat and spacious; There are no bathrooms on the trail, so we stop at a café before and after the hike.

    Children:

Not recommended for children under 8 years old.

  9. Security Don't take risks

Better to go with a guide and relax, instead of getting lost in the mountains of Madeira. Knowing that the mountain guide activates the emergency system is reassuring if you fall or feel unwell. He/she sends a warning and the group’s location to the local authorities, enabling a quick rescue. All well worth the money for the hike.
