Here you’ll look at an incredible view of the whole city of Funchal, including the bay and mountains. Next, we’ll drive you to Eira do Serrado throughout dramatic and spectacular views. Not to mention that once at the top, you’ll enjoy a stunning sight of the “Nun’s Valley” and of the Central Massif that surrounds it.
Our next stop will be the Parish of Monte, considered the most beautiful in the city and home to the last reigning monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. First, we will visit the lovely Portuguese colonial church and the tomb of Charles of Habsburg. Then we will walk to the departure of the famous toboggan, a unique means of transport for anyone who wishes an adventure ride down through the steep streets of Monte. Good to Know: Indeed, on the Madeira Centre tour there are a few steps to negotiate, but they are easy for the non-disabled. If you go on the sledge (upon an extra payment), we will pick you up at the end of the ride and then take you back to the hotel.

Hotel Pickup (Departure time)
A member of our staff will pick you up at the indicated place and confirm your voucher identification. You can present either a paper or an electronic ticket for this activity. The tour will begin as soon as we finish collecting tour members.
Pico dos Barcelos
To start with, great viewing point on the Madeira Centre tour, where you’ll see a 360-degree panorama of Funchal, the bay and the mountains.
Eira do Serrado
You’ll enjoy a stunning sight of the village of Curral das Freiras (Nun’s Village”) and of the Central Massif that circles it.
Monte
You’ll visit the most beautiful parish in the city and home to the last reigning monarch of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You will walk to the church and the “Toboggan” through the public gardens. (Ride not included but optional upon payment on the spot or when booking this tour (add-ons).
Toboggan ride
In case you’ve tried “Monte’s Sledge”, we will pick you up at the end of the trip.
Hotel Drop-off (Return time)
We will take you back to the same spot where we picked you at the start of the tour.
